Sarah E. Alexander
President

Sarah AlexanderSarah Alexander is the President of EMPEA. Previously, she managed private equity transactions throughout Asia for Emerging Markets Partnership (now EMP Global), a global firm with over $5 billion under management. Ms. Alexander worked on transactions in infrastructure, communications and basic industry in Korea, India and on a pan-Asia basis. Prior to joining EMP, Ms. Alexander worked at the World Bank, where she designed new initiatives for private sector participation in development finance. From1989-1993, she managed international trade and financial issues at the U.S. Department of State, where she focused on Eastern Europe, NAFTA and G7 Summit issues. At the beginning of her career, she worked on U.S. foreign aid policy with the Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Export Financing in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Ms. Alexander received an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters of Public Administration from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, and a BA in history, from Emory University. She has also been an adjunct professor of finance at Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service.

Carlos Perry
Chief Operating Officer

Carlos Perry As EMPEA’s Chief Operating Officer, Carlos Perry manages EMPEA’s financial and day-to-day operations. He is also responsible for EMPEA’s membership, events and business development activities. Before joining EMPEA, he was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, working with financial services, media and telecom clients in North America and Asia. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President – International for the Yankee Group, a technology research firm, where he spent seven years managing the company’s international business. At Yankee, Mr. Perry launched new products, subsidiaries and joint ventures in markets including Japan, the U.K., Australia, Brazil, Mexico, China, Korea and South Africa. He also led consulting engagements related to telecom liberalization in Brazil, India, the UAE, Thailand and other markets, including work for venture capital, private equity, investment banking and government clients. Prior to Yankee Mr. Perry was an entrepreneur and consultant in Russia and Hungary.

Mr. Perry holds an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School, a Masters of Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BA in international politics from the Elliott School at George Washington University.

Jennifer Choi
Director of Research

Jennifer ChoiJennifer Choi is the Director of Research for EMPEA. Ms. Choi comes to EMPEA after several years as a lead analyst and engagement manager for Stax Inc., a Boston-based strategic research firm serving the private equity community. Ms. Choi’s other consulting experience includes strategic planning and organizational development with the Wharton School-affiliated Center for Applied Research and Interaction Associates. Ms. Choi holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Augustana College, and a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University. Ms. Choi has traveled extensively in Asia and lived and taught in Tokyo for two years.

Cristiane Nascimento
Communications & Marketing Manager

Cristiane Nascimento is the Communications and Marketing Manager at EMPEA. Prior to joining EMPEA, she was the communications manager at NatureServe, a conservation non-proft based in Arlington, Virginia. At NatureServe she managed communications and marketing outreach efforts for the organization and its network of more than 80 member programs located throughout Canada, the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean. She also worked as a consultant for the Pan American Health Organization, a branch of the World Health Organization, and at the National Association of Hispanic Publications as public affairs manager.

Ms. Nascimento holds a B.A. in Journalism from the Philip Merrill College at the University of Maryland, and also a minor in Latin American Studies and Spanish. A native from Brazil, she has lived in Spain and traveled to countries in Latin America, North Africa and Europe.

Farzana Hoque
Manager of Membership and Special Projects

Farzana Hoque Farzana Hoque is the Manager of Membership and Special Projects at EMPEA. She worked previously at the Washington International Studies Council as the Program Assistant. While an undergraduate student, she interned at various places including the British Parliament, the International Institute of Boston, and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Ms. Hoque provided market research for the latter organization through her participation in the Tufts Institute for Leadership and International Perspective, which also enabled her to study in China and help organize an international symposium. After living in Saudi Arabia for almost twenty years and traveling frequently to Bangladesh, she decided to pursue her interest in international economic development. She is currently the Chair of the Tufts Alumni Admissions Program committee in Washington, DC as well as a student at the Middle East Institute.

Ms. Hoque graduated in May, 2005 from Tufts University with a BA in International Relations and a concentration in Economic Development.

Harrison Moskowitz
Research Assistant

Harrison Moskowitz is a Research Assisant at EMPEA. Previously, Mr. Moskowitz held research positions at the Scowcroft Group and the Watson Institute for International Studies. Prior experiences have included a manufacturing internship with K2 China in Hong Kong and military training at USMC Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. While an undergraduate student, Mr. Moskowitz studied History and European Studies at the Sorbonne and the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. Active on Brown University’s campus, he was a member of the campus Relay for Life committee, the varsity wrestling team, and the University Working Group for Internationalization.

Mr. Moskowitz graduated from Brown University with concentrations in History and International Relations.
