Ms. Barger has spent 21 years investing in emerging markets companies at the International Finance Corporation. She was Director of Corporate Governance for the World Bank and IFC from 2004 to 2007, and Director of Private Equity and Investment Funds from 2000 to 2004. Prior to that, she worked at McKinsey & Company in New York, London and Tokyo. Ms. Barger is the co-founder and Vice Chair of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association. She serves on the Board of the Pacific Pension Institute and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale University, and did graduate work in the American University in Cairo.

Thomas C. Barry founded Zephyr Management, L.P. in 1994. By combining sustainable business and economic trends with a high value added investment strategy, Zephyr has sponsored thirteen funds, with US $900 million in committed capital. Prior to that, Mr. Barry, a CFA, was CEO of the Rockefeller and Company, Inc. and held several positions at T. Rowe Price Associates, including President of Rowe Price New Horizons Fund. Mr. Barry has a B.A. in Latin American studies from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Michael Calvey

Michael Calvey is the founder and Senior Partner of Baring Vostok Capital Partners, the largest private equity firm focused on Russia and the CIS.  Baring Vostok's funds currently own 20 businesses with combined turnover of approximately $1.3 billion and operations primarily in the media, financial services, IT and oil & gas industries.  The firm is presently investing its fourth fund with total capital of $1.5 billion.  Baring Vostok is or has been a major shareholder in Burren Energy plc, CTC Media, Yandex, Volga Gas plc, Caspian Bank, Europlan Leasing, Golden Telecom, Gallery Media, Sladco, Syktyvkar Forestry, Vimpelcom, and other leading CIS companies.

Mr. Calvey is the Chairman of the Investment Committee for all of Baring Vostok's funds and is also a member of the Investment Committees of affiliated Baring funds in China and India.  He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Council and the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.

Okechukwu Enelamah

Okechukwu Enelamah is the Chief Executive Officer of African Capital Alliance (ACA).  With five funds under management, ACA is a leading independent private equity firm investing in West Africa.  ACA principally invests in Nigeria and countries in the Gulf of Guinea.  Funds under management include Capital Alliance Private Equity I, II & III and Capital Alliance Property Investment Company L.P.  Mr. Enelamah’s previous private equity experience was gained from Zephyr Management L.P. and South Africa Capital Growth Fund in New York and Johannesburg respectively.  Prior to his career in private equity, Mr. Enelamah worked for Arthur Andersen and Goldman Sachs.  After first qualifying as a medical doctor, he qualified as a chartered accountant in Nigeria.  He has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Mr. Enelamah currently serves on a number of boards including UACN Plc, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Technoserve and Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa (ALIWA).

He also serves on the Advisory Boards of Lagos Business School (LBS) and Africa Venture Capital Association (AVCA), amongst others.

Paul Fletcher

Mr. Fletcher is based in London and heads up Actis's business activities worldwide. He joined Actis in 2000 as Director of Africa and Global Sector Groups and was appointed as CEO in 2002, after which he led the demerger of Actis from CDC. Before joining Actis, Mr. Fletcher was Head of Emerging Markets Strategic Planning for Citibank in London and, prior to that, General Manager for Citibank in East Africa based in Nairobi. He also spent eight years working as a Corporate Finance professional in New York, Tokyo and London. He began his career trading commodities for Cargill in Minneapolis and London before joining the commodities division of Bankers Trust. Mr. Fletcher has a master’s degree in geography from Oxford University.

Jason Glover is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department, where he focuses on private fund formation, particularly private equity funds. Mr. Glover is a recognized leader in this area having represented many of the most prominent European and developing market private equity firms in structuring complex global funds.  Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Glover spent three years working in the private equity industry. As operations director for AIFAL, then the second largest private equity manager in Asia, Mr. Glover was responsible for the day-to-day operational management for several funds including Asian Infrastructure Fund. He gained further commercial experience as COO of what is now Duke Street Capital, where his role included active fundraising for an LBO fund which quadrupled funds under management. Mr. Glover received his LL.B. from the University of Bristol in 1988.

Roger S. Leeds

Dr. Roger S. Leeds was the Founding Chairman of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association and is a Professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of the Johns Hopkins University, Director of the School’s Center for International Business and Public Policy, and an Adjunct Professor at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to SAIS, Dr. Leeds worked as Managing Director and co-head of the emerging markets practice at Patricof & Co., Partner at KPMG, senior staff member at the International Finance Corporation, and, Associate at Salomon Brothers in New York. A renowned expert in the field, Dr. Leeds has worked in 100 countries in Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and Africa, and is a member of Council of Foreign Relations in New York. Dr. Leeds has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from SAIS.

Jeffrey Leonard has primary oversight of GEF’s investment management activities in emerging markets and technology investments specializing in the energy, environmental, intelligent systems engineering, biotechnology and healthcare sectors. Prior to GEF, Mr. Leonard worked with development and finance economic development and environmental infrastructure for the World Bank, U.S. Agency for International Development, World Resources Institute, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Office of Technology Assessment and the Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research. He also served as vice president of World Wildlife Fund and The Conservation Foundation. He is a Board Member of the National Council for Science and the Environment, and was a board member of Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT). Mr. Leonard has a B.A. from Harvard University, a M.Sc. from the Lon­don School of Economics and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.

Arif Naqvi is founder and Group CEO of Abraaj Capital, the largest private equity group in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. In 2008, The Institutional Investor billed him as among the 12 most influential businessmen in the Middle East. Mr. Naqvi is on the board of several bodies including the World Economic Forum’s Arab Business Council, the Pakistan Human Development Fund and the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation & Achievement in Jordan. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Assocation and the Advisory Board of the Columbia University Middle East Research Center. In 2006, he was awarded Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, the Sitari-e-Imtiaz, by the republic’s president. Before founding The Cupola Group in 1994 and Abraaj in 2002, Mr. Naqvi worked at Arthur Andersen and Saudi Arabia’s Olayan Group. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics.

Sanjay Nayar

Sanjay Nayar (Mumbai) joined KKR in 2009.  Previously, he spent 24 years at Citigroup, most recently as CEO of Citi’s Indian and South Asian operations and as a member of Citigroup’s Asia Executive Operating Committee and Global Senior Leadership Committee.  Citi India was one of the leading international franchises of Citi encompassing Consumer, Corporate, and Investment Banking. Mr. Nayar was the Deputy Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Chairman of the Foreign Banks’ Committee of the IBA, a member of the Board of USIBC, Co-Chairman of the Banking Committee for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Co-Chairman of the Habitat for Humanity India Builds campaign. He has also participated in various financial sector reform committees set up by the Indian government and domestic regulators – Infrastructure Committee in 2008, and currently on the Committee by Reserve Bank of India to build a “Centre for Advanced Financial Learning” (CAFL).  He is also on the board of the Indian School of Business (ISB), and is now the Chairman of the CII VC/PE Committee.  Currently, he is on the board of large NGOs including Habitat for Humanity, Pratham and Grameen Capital.

Robert Petty

Robert Petty is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Clearwater Capital Partners, and a member of the firm's Investment Committee. Asia credit investing -- with extensive experience in turnarounds and restructurings -- has been the predominant focus of Mr. Petty’s 26-year career. Since inception of the firm in 2001, Mr. Petty and his partner have utilized their credit oriented investment strategy to invest profitably across sectors and strategies, building an Asia focused business that today is one of the largest credit investing firms in the region. Mr. Petty’s previous experience includes senior positions of increasing responsibility at Amroc Investments LLC, Peregrine Fixed Income Ltd, and thirteen years with Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. Mr. Petty sits on the board of three Clearwater portfolio companies and also serves on the board of EngenderHealth, a non-profit organization. Mr. Petty holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brown University.

André Roux

Andre Roux is the founding partner of Ethos. As Chief Executive, he has overall responsibility for the company’s strategic, operating and investment activities. With more than 25 years in investment banking he is regarded as a pioneer in the private equity industry in South Africa. Prior to Ethos, he worked for FirstCorp Merchant Bank (a subsidiary of First National Bank) in financial advisory, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, divestitures, initial public offering and minority investments. He also worked with BZW, the investment banking arm of Barclays plc, in corporate finance related assignments and private equity. Prior to the establishment of Ethos, he jointly held the positions of Chief Executive of FirstCorp Capital Investors Limited and FirstCorp Merchant Bank. Mr. Roux serves on the board of Dunlop Tyres International.

Jean Eric Salata

Jean Eric Salata has been responsible for the investment activity of Baring Asia since 1997 when he established the regional Asian private equity investment program for ING’s Baring Private Equity Partners Ltd.  Mr. Salata later led a buyout of Baring Asia from ING in 2000 to establish as an independent firm as it remains till today.   Before that, Mr. Salata was a Director of Hong Kong based AIG Investment Corporation (Asia) Ltd., the Asian private equity investment arm of AIG. Also he was the Executive Vice President of Finance of Shiu Wing Steel, a Hong Kong based industrial concern, and prior to that a management consultant with Bain & Company based in Hong Kong, Sydney and Boston. Mr. Salata is a long time resident of Asia having lived and worked in Hong Kong since 1989.  He graduated with magna cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Finance and Economics.  Mr. Salata was the recipient of the Asian Venture Capital Journal’s 2009 Private Equity Professional of the Year award.

George W. Siguler

George W. Siguler is the Managing Director and founding principal of Siguler Guff & Company. Prior to Siguler Guff, Mr. Siguler was a Managing Director and head of PaineWebber’s Private Equity Group, and President and Chief Investment Officer of Associated Capital Investors. He was a founding partner of the Harvard Management Company and initiated and managed its venture capital, buyout and hedge fund activity. He also served as Associate Treasurer of Harvard University. Mr. Siguler served in the Reagan Administration from 1983 to 1984 as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with oversight responsibility for a $300 billion budget and 150,000 employees. He is a member of the Board of Overseers Visiting Committee of the Harvard Medical School, and a Trustee of the Bement School, Deerfield, Massachusetts. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Sev Vettivetpillai

Sev Vettivetpillai was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aureos Advisers Limited in July 2004. Prior to this, he was Investment Director of AAL and responsible for the Aureos Group investment activities such as investment strategy & philosophy, investment process and fund structures. Mr. Vettivetpillai was instrumental in applying portfolio development and management theory to private equity investment across the Aureos Group.  He has 13 years of experience in private equity investing in the emerging markets. Prior to joining Aureos, Mr. Vettivetpillai was a Senior Investment Executive at CDC, responsible for evaluating third-party fund investments and CDC’s portfolio of managed funds. He previously worked for three years in Ayojana, one of CDC’s fund management companies in Sri Lanka. He also worked at Vanik Inc. as a Portfolio Manager and Mott Macdonald Group as an Engineer. Mr. Vettivetpillai graduated from Imperial College, London, UK with a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. In 2001 he gained the United States professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Pote Videt is Managing Director of Private Equity (Thailand) Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Lombard Investments, which provides technical assistance to the US$245 million Thailand Equity Fund. Previously Mr. Videt was Managing Director of Credit Suisse First Boston and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Named one of the top bankers in emerging markets by The Global Finance magazine, Mr. Videt served as Deputy Minister of Commerce and as advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi in the Thai Government. He is currently on the Council of Economic Advisors to the Prime Minister of Thailand. Mr. Videt serves on the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society, a Council Member of the Asian Corporate Governance Association, and a board member of Thai companies including K-Tech, Loxley, Trinity Watthana and Vinythai. He has a B.A. in economics from Yale University and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Rebecca Xu is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Asia Alternatives Management LLC. Ms. Xu co-leads Asia Alternatives’ Hong Kong office, which serves as the Firm’s base for fund and direct investing, market research and portfolio management. Ms. Xu is on the Firm’s Investment Committee and leads Asia Alternatives’ investments in expansion and growth capital funds, focusing mostly in China, India and South East Asia markets.

Prior to Asia Alternatives, Ms. Xu was a Senior Investment Officer at the Funds Group of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector investment arm of the World Bank Group. There, she had the primary responsibility of leading IFC’s fund investing and portfolio supervision in Asia for over six years. Previously, Ms. Xu also worked at McKinsey & Co, Inc. (Washington D.C.) and HSBC (Hong Kong). Ms. Xu received an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a Bachelors degree in International Relations from the Foreign Affairs College in Beijing, China.  Ms. Xu currently serves on the Advisory Boards for CDH China Fund III, CDH Venture Partners I and II, Hony Capital Fund III and Capital Today China Growth Fund.

John Zhao

Mr. John Zhao is CEO of Hony Capital, one of China’s first domestic private equity firms. Under Mr. Zhao’s leadership Hony Capital has grown to encompass $700Mn in assets under management, and its 12 portfolio companies have annual sales of $2.7Bn, employ 44k individuals, and make annual tax contributions of over $250Mn. Prior to Hony, Mr. Zhao served as a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and as a turn-around CEO and chairman of several high technology companies. Mr. Zhao continues to serve as vice president of Hony’s sponsor firm, Legend Holdings and the parent of Lenovo, acquirer of the IBM personal computer business. Mr. Zhao is the director and chairman in several Hony portfolio companies. Mr. Zhao has an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, a dual master’s degrees in electric engineering and physics from Northern Illinois University, and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Nanjing University.
